Description
A DTG drying tunnel reads 165°C. The belt itself sits at 158°C. That's the kind of gap a Laser Thermometer for Screen Printing, DTG and DTF catches before it turns into a batch of under-cured plastisol or poorly dried prints. Non-contact, instant reading, no need to stop the line.
Screen Printing Thermometer: Flash Cure and Tunnel Control
At flash cure, plastisol typically gels between 90 and 110°C, depending on the ink formulation. Too low, and the ink stays soft and bonds poorly with the next layer. Too high, and it cures before the final pass. Tunnel curing temperature varies by ink system and should always follow the manufacturer's data sheet. A screen printing thermometer lets you set the tunnel to that exact figure rather than a rough estimate. A cold spot near the tunnel edge is enough to weaken part of the batch in wash testing.
DTG Thermometer and DTF Thermometer: Same Principle, Different Process
On a DTG heat press, platen temperature governs how well water-based ink fixes onto cotton. A 10°C gap between the display and the actual platen surface changes the result. With a DTF thermometer, the check covers hotmelt powder fusion and the final transfer press, two stages where actual temperature depends on the powder, the film and the fabric. Powder that hasn't fully fused won't hold up in the wash, even if the print looks fine straight off the press.
