How to use DTF with Brother GTX Pro or Brother GTX Pro Bulk?

Start by adjusting the RIP settings, DTF printing requires significantly less ink. When purchasing DTF transfer sheets, feel free to ask us for the specific settings to apply to your Brother DTG or Epson printer. Print, powder the ink, dry it, and then apply your transfer. The peeling process is done using a heat press.

What is Direct-to-Film printing?

DTF printing is a revolutionary and recent technique that allows direct printing onto a PET film. The acronym DTF stands for Direct To Film, emphasising the direct printing process on film.

After undergoing a heat curing process, the transfer adheres to a shirt using a heat press. It can be applied to various garments and accessories like cotton, polyester, lycra, and more, regardless of their colour.

Why use special textile transfer film?

The DTF transfer film (40 x 50 cm) serves as the substrate for the printing process. T design is printed onto a PET film, a non-absorbent surface, where the ink remains wet. After printing your design, apply an adhesive powder to the DTF ink. This DTF powder acts as a bonding agent, securing the printed inks to both the film and the clothes fibres.

Usage tips for the 40 x 50 cm DTF transfer sheet.

When creating a DTF transfer with a Brother GTX, Epson F2100, Polyprint Texjet, or any similar equipment, use a specialised RIP for the DTF.

Before printing, apply a margin or offset of 3 to 4 pixels.

DTF printing requires less ink, launch your tests with 50% less ink than DTG printing.

Identify the printing side by moistening your finger. Glide it over the 40 x 50 cm DTF sheet, the stickier side represent the printing surface.

Initiate your print on the DTF transfer sheet, then apply powder over the entire DTF ink. Ideally, cure it in an oven.

Attach the textile transfer using a heat press for 15 seconds at 150°C, then peel off the film while it’s still warm.

DTF Printing Offers Several Interesting Advantages.

Lower ink consumption: Compared to Direct To Garment (DTG) printing, DTF printing requires less ink. This can reduce your printing costs.

Versatile textile printing, flexibility, and speed: Whether customising T-shirts, bags, caps, or other garments items, DTF printing offers extraordinary versatility.

In summary, DTF printing is an efficient technique for creating personalised designs. You get visuals with superior quality and excellent usability. The production cost remains relatively lower than DTG printing.
